Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford was born in the United States. She is an actor as well as a singer and dancer. She began her Broadway career with musicals like Wicked, Legally Blonde and Hair. Her first Tony Award was given to Ashford for her role as Essie Carmichael in You Can't Take It With You. Annaleigh is a Tony Award winning actress and director has spent most of her professional career working alongside famous directors and actors both in film and on television. Ashford next will star opposite Kumail in Robert Siegel's exclusive Hulu program Welcome to Chippendales which premieres on November 22nd. Ashford has been involved in Searchlight Pictures' horror film Dust which stars Sarah Paulson alongside Ebon and Moss Bachrach. This film is part of a Hulu Original and will be streamed on Disney DTC. Ashford is set to appear alongside Josh Groban on Broadway's Lunt-Fontanne Theatre in the March 2023 revival of Stephensondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail (director) and Jeffrey Seller (producer), the same team who created Hamilton is directing the show. Ashford's latest part was that of Paula Jones on Ryan Murphy FX's American Crime Story Impeachment. The series is based on a nationwide scandal that involved Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky, and Linda Tripp. Ashford was a part of two seasons in the CBS hit comedy B Positive. Created by Marco Pennette and Chuck Lorre it also featured legendary performers Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo and Ben Vereen.No new to Broadway Ashford won the Tony Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for her role as Essie as Essie in You Can't Take It with You. Additional Broadway performances for Ashford are Sunday in the Park, in which she starred with George Wicked legally Blonde, as well as the role of Lauren as Lauren in Kinky Boots. For this performance she received the Tony Award nomination. Ashford is a Denver native who now divides her time between Los Angeles.
